JPMorgan Chase Partners with Futures and Options to Provide 40 NYC Youth with Summer Jobs
Summer 2016 marks the third year JPMorgan Chase is partnering with Futures and Options's Summer Internship Program.
JPMorgan Chase is an extraordinary leader in the field of youth employment, providing over $2.5 million annually in financial support for summer youth employment across the nation. Thanks to their generous support, Futures and Options high school students are in summer jobs where they are strengthening their professional skills and building their networks. In addition to their financial support of our work helping youth gain summer jobs across New York City, JPMorgan Chase has taken on a Futures and Options intern each of the last 17 years through the Urban Leadership Fellows Program, which offers graduating high school seniors paid mentored internships in municipal finance.
Our JPMorgan Chase Summer Internship Program reaches 40 juniors and seniors in high school, ages 16-19 years old, who live in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens, and attend 27 New York City high schools, such as Brooklyn Tech High School, Medgar Evers College Preparatory School, Saint Jean Baptiste High School, Manhattan Business Academy, Brooklyn College Academy, and Queens High School for the Sciences at York College.
The interns are working at 33 different businesses, nonprofits and government agencies in various industry sectors. Interns are carefully matched to jobs based upon the needs of our internship partners and the students' skills and interests. This summer, JPMorgan Chase interns are working at (RED), 826NYC, Accenture, AMC, Battery Dance Company, Child Center of NY – Woodside, Citizens Committee for New York City, City Parks Foundation, Datonics, EEOC, Evercore Partners, Housing Works, Informa, IPG Mediabrands, Kenneth Gilbert, Maimonides Medical Center, Mesmerize Marketing, Metro NY, Mukti's Kitchen, New Destiny Housing, NYC Law Department, NYC Smoke Free, the Office of the Attorney General, Pan-African Community Development Initiative, Parodneck Foundation for Self-Help and Community Development, Inc., Pisa Brothers Travel, Prime Clerk, Public Health Solutions, Row New York, The Possibility Project, Time, Inc.,Ventura Associates, and YASI.
Intern Karey Benitez Villegas, a rising senior at St. Jean Baptiste High School who hopes to attend Baruch College, is a valuable contributor at Mesmerize Marketing. She is assisting the team by researching medical facilities in Mesmerize's network and providing more information for their database. Karey's interest in the marketing field has only increased as a result of her experiences at this internship. Her supervisors are just as delighted as she is to work together, stating that her excellent attitude, professional demeanor and willingness to learn is very impressive to all of their staff members.
