Futures and Options is committed to protecting your right to browse our website anonymously, and to participate in our online offerings without fear of harassment or undesired commercial messages.
If you suspect that our site is somehow compromising your privacy, or if you would like to review or correct any personal information that we have collected about you, please contact Nell Schwed immediately.
Email Privacy
We will not rent, sell, give away, or transfer the email addresses of people who use our services or contact us. If you subscribe to our Get Updates service, we may share your email address with an email service provider that sends the newsletters on our behalf.
You may elect not to receive further communications from us by noting that this is your preference in response to communications from us that you receive. All Futures and Options e-newsletters and direct email communications have easy-to-follow unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email. You may also email Nell Schwed at any time if you wish to be removed from our email list.
Cookies
We may use web-browser cookies to keep track of your session from page to page as you browse the site. We do this to provide a clear picture of how visitors, in the aggregate, use our site and what features or resources they are most interested in.
We also use cookies to temporarily track form responses (such as Alumni Contact Information) while they are being processed by the system. We do not store personal information in cookies, but we do store the information you submit in your form responses on our server.
The use of cookies is standard on the Internet and many websites use them. If you wish, you may direct your browser to reject cookies. However, please be aware that if you block cookies, some of your Site functionality may be lost, such as the ability to submit forms.
Anti-Spamming / Anti-Malware
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure that our website and servers are not exploited by people who seek to deliver unsolicited commercial messages, propaganda, or software meant to subvert the security of your computer. We do this by keeping our server software up to date, and by following strict system administration policies.
Our servers are operated by the Fund for the City of New York. Please contact compop@fcny.org immediately if you suspect that this site has been "hacked" or compromised in any way.
Identity Protection
We use encryption where possible to avoid exposing usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive information on the open Internet.
This website does not collect credit card information or billing details directly. For this service we rely on NYCharities.org. Their privacy policy is here.
Server Logs and Privacy
We compile and maintain industry-standard logs of all server activity in order to fine-tune our server and to provide abstract information about usage patterns on our site.
A close audit of these logs, combined with the cooperation of your ISP, could theoretically be used to identify you. We will only undertake such an investigation in order to stop harassment of, or denial of services to, other Internet users.
Public pages on this website also make use of Google Analytics, a service which collects similar information about website usage using Google's servers. Please visit Google's Privacy Center (and see their Privacy Policy) for more details.
Form Responses and Privacy
The information which you submit to Futures and Options via web forms or email becomes part of our institutional communications archive. This information will be treated as private during the normal course of business, but may someday be released publicly due to legal action or for historical/research purposes. In the unlikely event that all of our assets relating to the Site are sold or transferred to another party, your personally identifiable information may be transferred to this acquiring entity.
Please do not use the web or email to communicate information which must never be disclosed; or if you do, please take appropriate measures to dissociate such communication from your identity. One way to do this is to use an anonymous proxy. See this article as a starting point for finding such a resource.
The web or email should not be used for unauthorized disclosure of sensitive documents, or the disclosure of personal information if such disclosure would tend to injure, or defame, or put anyone at physical risk.

Children Online
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we adhere to the 1998 Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). (For more information, visit the Federal Trade Commission's COPPA site.) We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 years that is submitted to us via the Internet. If you are under 13 years of age, please do not submit your personally identifiable information to us. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personally identifiable information from a user under the age of thirteen, other than in a legally permissible situation, we will delete the information from our records as soon as it is discovered by us.
