This program provides a unique opportunity for certified graduates of postgraduate programs in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy to develop their skills as supervisors. It is designed to further the professional's career by moving the analyst in a systematic way from the role of practitioner to the role of the practitioner/teacher.
In keeping with the comprehensive approach of NIP, the Supervisory Training Program is psychoanalytically oriented and emphasizes contemporary developments in psychoanalytic theory and technique, especially the relational approaches of object relations, self psychology, relational and interpersonal theories.
A weekly didactic seminar focuses on theoretical discussion and actual experience of the supervisory process. The emphasis is on relational models of theory and practice, as well as a comparative study of major authors in the field of psychoanalysis. This fall seminar is taught by NIP co-founder and Board member James L. Fosshage, PhD.
This program will next be offered for the 2017.2018 academic year.
