The Integrative Trauma Program (ITP) has two separate and complementary training programs that may be attended independently, sequentially, or simultaneously.
- Certificate Program in Integrative Trauma Studies: A 9-month program of weekly seminars offering CE contact hours and leading to a Certificate in Integrative Trauma Studies. Clinically-oriented seminars integrate psychoanalytic/psychodynamic concepts with contemporary topics and issues in the understanding and treatment of trauma.
- Clinical Affiliate Program: A 2-year program for EMDR-trained, experienced clinicians dedicated to the treatment of trauma. Clinicians provide reimbursed treatment of patients referred from NIP's Trauma Treatment Service, attend weekly group supervision with EMDRIA-approved Consultants and monthly clinical seminars led by senior faculty members and supervisors in the Integrative Trauma Program.
Trauma Colloquia
ITP Colloquia are scheduled 4 times during the academic year on Thursday evenings. Presentations cover a range of specialized topics in traumatology and trauma treatment and are open to the NYC professional community.
EMDR Training
The Integrative Trauma Program offers an annual comprehensive EMDR training with Karen Alter-Reid, PhD, the Program's Senior EMDR Consultant and Trainer.
Trauma Treatment Center
The Trauma Treatment Center provides low-cost, short-term trauma treatment for adults. Treatment is informed by the integration of EMDR and other trauma-related modalities with psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy. Certificate Program in Integrative Trauma Studies:
a 9-Month Program
Certificate Program Co-Chairs: Cathy Fewer, LCSW and Sarah St. Onge, PhD
The Integrative Trauma Studies Certificate Program provides a comprehensive overview of essential topics in the understanding and treatment of trauma. Weekly, clinically oriented seminars integrate psychoanalytic/psychodynamic concepts with contemporary, essential themes and considerations in the treatment of trauma. All instructors combine theoretical and clinical material with case and/or video illustrations.
The program is designed to provide experienced psychoanalytic/psychodynamic clinicians with the enhanced understanding and skills to treat patients with a broad range of traumatic experiences, including adult-onset and childhood trauma.
Seminars are led by an outstanding faculty, all recognized experts in trauma treatment, who are especially effective at engaging candidates through theoretical presentation, clinical illustration, and interventions that are particular to trauma treatment. Topics are scheduled in a particular sequence to optimize candidates' grasp and integration of the material.
Graduates of the program receive a Certificate in Integrative Trauma Studies at NIP's graduation ceremony in June.
