Please note: The Scholarship Plus application is now closed. Applicants will be notified the second week of April. Find our Resource Guide here for more resources on applying to colleges and other scholarships.

Our application for NYC 2026 high school graduates will be open November 1, 2025.

How to Apply

The Scholarship Plus award is a college scholarship and community for New York City students. Scholarship Plus offers such students a competitive four-year scholarship PLUS individualized, wraparound support. We celebrate your successes, and help you navigate difficult moments.

The scholarship, up to $8,000 a year, may be used to pay tuition, room and board, fees, and other educational expenses. Each scholarship will be renewable annually for up to four years of study as long as the student maintains a good academic record and makes standard progress toward a degree.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Current high school senior who attends a public, parochial or private school in New York City
  • Strong academic achievement (84.5% or higher G.P.A.)
  • Significant financial need (family income less than $52,000)
  • Willingness to engage with Scholarship Plus community in occasional events, workshops and semester check-ins
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States

Applicants with a family member, such as a sibling or relative, that is currently or was formerly enrolled in the program are not eligible to apply. This policy is in place to ensure that we can support as many households as possible.

Preference will be given to students whose parents have not graduated from American four-year colleges or universities.

 QUICK TIPS!

  • Complete your FAFSA!
  • Start with recommendations! We ask for two. Send recommendation requests ( via the website) NOW, to give enough time. Also, remind your recommenders leading up to the deadline. Inform recommenders of your latest accomplishments, career interests, etc.
  • We ask for two essays. Give yourself enough time to finish and proofread. Note: A strong essay highlights what makes you unique and shows your greatest interests.

Our Resource Guide can be found here. We update often with resources on applying to colleges and other scholarships.
