While committed and deeply involved with schoolwork, Danny developed two, two-player games for Roblox. They are getting positive reviews, a thrill for this young entrepreneur. He says that the idea for a game is not necessarily difficult, but building the game is, and it takes time. Danny created these games AND started a business, earning revenue, while continually exploring ways to expand sales and game items, which is where the challenge lies.
Danny praises two organizations that made a huge contribution to his life. One is APEX for Youth, created to assist low-income families as they transition from high school to college. They aided with his resume and interview preparation. Since he will be attending college in New York City, he plans on reciprocating — mentoring people who are struggling with the college process and helping them achieve their dreams. The other is Henry Street Settlement where, as a Technology Intern, he taught a workshop on Excel spreadsheets, Zoom, and conversational AI usage.
And it doesn’t end there. In school, Danny’s advisor said that he is motivated, patient, funny, and creative. He is driven and has many ideas of what his future successes may look like. One of his teachers said that when educators talk about those who can think outside the box and rise to leadership in the classroom, Danny is that student.
So don’t yell at your kid to get off the computer. He or she may be playing one of Danny’s games.
Thank you to my mentor, Raymond L., who took the fear of the college process away. He did an amazing job helping me go through this once in a lifetime opportunity.
