Habibatou

“The demands of school can be overwhelming, leaving me feeling like I’m running just to keep up. But it’s when I come home and settle into bed with a book in hand that the world around me fades into silence. In that quiet, the weight of the day lifts, and I’m left with nothing but the peaceful escape of the pages before me.” An admitted book nerd, Habibatou is also a beautiful writer, expressing her thoughts with insight and clarity.

Her math teacher shared that on the first day of classes, Habibatou asked if she could be a go-between for one of her friends who was in the hospital recovering from surgery. She simultaneously handled her own school obligations and managed a daily Zoom call, keeping her friend on pace with the class.

Habibatou says that because her high school was small, she looks forward to meeting new people from all over the country. Though she intends to go to college in New York State, she’s worried about being a few hours away from her family and friends. “They’re there for me whenever for whatever.” She says they’re all sad about it, but happy that she will have amazing opportunities.

“Being the first one in her family enroute to college, her sense of responsibility shaped her into a compassionate and accountable individual, qualities vital for her future in the medical field", wrote her college advisor.

Thank you to Mr. Ward — my English teacher. He has been a big help with my transition back to my old school and helping me get all of my classes together.
